Luxo's Ondina Waves Goodbye to Onda As Standalone Luminaire
New Product: Ondina - wave-like direct/indirect modular suspension luminaire. Daughter in Onda Family.

Design: Isao Hosoe

Manufacturer: Luxo/Luxit

Product Applications: Ondina, a shorter complement to Luxo’s award-winning Onda, is truly a unique fixture that stands out as a signature piece for lobbies, conference rooms, libraries, universities and museums. Ondina provides softly diffused undulations of glare-free ambient direct/indirect lighting in a contemporary design.

Although Ondina can be installed in continuous rows, a single up-and-down module measures 5.6 ft (1700mm) long, making it ideal for applications where Luxo’s Onda might be too large.

Product Description: Ondina is formed of an oval body in drawn aluminum for housing the electric components of the lightsource. Its fluid, ribbon-like “waves” form curvilinear shades which encapsulate and project emitted light into either or both the upper and lower interior spaces in which the fixture is installed.

Like Onda, Ondina is modular in concept and flexible in design. Each unit, singular or in continuous rows, suspends from the ceiling via dual thin aircraft cables at each end. An elliptical center support beam, the length of each module, prevents unwanted torquing of modules.

Construction & Finishes: Ondina provides exceptional durability without unnecessary weight. Light housing, elliptical support beam and perforated reflector guards are extruded aluminum. Wave-like reflectors are a special acrylic which allows light to disperse evenly through, minimizing shadows. Illumination is provided by two, energy-efficient, 55-watt fluorescent lamps. 120V or 277V models available. Ondina is cUL listed.
